What to expect at a newborn session

A newborn session is unlike any other shoot, because the smallest person in the room runs the schedule. These sessions are slow, warm, and gentle, built entirely around your baby's comfort. Here is exactly what to expect, so you can relax and enjoy it.

Book the first couple of weeks

The classic sleepy, curled newborn look happens in roughly the first two weeks of life, when babies still fold into those cozy positions and sleep deeply. We recommend reaching out while you are still expecting so we can pencil in a window around your due date.

If those early days pass, do not worry. Older babies make beautiful, alert, wide eyed photos too. There is no wrong time, just a different style depending on the age.

Slow, warm, and led by the baby

We keep the room warm, the lights soft, and the pace unhurried. Newborn sessions take their time, with plenty of breaks for feeding, soothing, and the occasional outfit change for everyone. We never rush a baby, because a calm baby is what makes the photos work.

Safety comes first in every frame. Many of the posed looks you see are created carefully and gently, and we only do what is comfortable and safe for your little one. Mostly we follow the baby's lead and capture the quiet, real moments in between.

How to prepare

Try to feed your baby right before we start, and keep them awake a little beforehand if you can, so they sleep soundly during the session. Dress them in something loose and easy to remove so there are no marks on the skin.

Bring anything meaningful you want included, a special wrap, a knit from a grandparent, a favorite toy. And go easy on yourself. Newborn life is a blur, so we keep the whole session gentle and flexible for new parents.
