Good to know

Questions couples ask us

These are the questions we hear before a date is booked. If your wedding, event, or family session is already done, read what happens next. The full booking terms are on our terms page.

The basics

Do you really include a second photographer?

Yes, in every collection. A second shooter is how you get the groom's reaction while the bride walks, the wide room and the close detail at once, and full coverage when the day splits in two directions.

Can you do photo and video together?

Yes, and this is the part most couples wish they had known sooner. Our photographers and videographers are one team. They plan your timeline together and work the day together, so there is no vendor standoff and no two crews bumping into each other at the altar.

What is a wedding content creator and do I need one?

A content creator shoots vertical video and photos on a phone and sends you the raw, unedited clips within days, while the emotion is still fresh. There is no editing, music, or captions, so you pick your favorites and add audio inside the app when you post. It does not replace your photos or your film. It is the third layer, the one you will rewatch the most. We can add one from our own team so it is one less stranger at your wedding.

When will we see our photos?

Teaser photos within 1 week. Your full edited gallery within 3 months, in a private online album that stays up for 1 year, then available by Dropbox for 1 more year. Every file is delivered digitally.

Do you offer a smaller or shorter package for an intimate wedding?

We love an intimate day, and we shape the timeline and coverage around whatever yours looks like, a ceremony only celebration, a full mass, candids of everyone who came, and relaxed portraits rather than tight close ups. What stays the same is the investment. Every wedding starts at $3,200 for two photographers and eight hours, whether it is a 300 guest ballroom or the two of you at the altar. An additional photographer, a third beyond the two already included, is $1,500. An additional videographer, a second one available once film is booked, is $1,500. A wedding content creator is $1,500. That starting number reflects the artistry, the team, and the finished gallery, not the guest count or the hours on the clock, so we do not shoot weddings at a reduced rate. If your day runs shorter than eight hours, that time goes into more candids, more of your guests, and more portraits, so nothing is wasted.

How far in advance should we book?

For Saturdays in peak season, May through October, eight to twelve months out is smart. Good dates go early.

Do you travel?

All of Long Island, the five boroughs, and beyond. Ask us about your venue. Odds are we have shot there.

Booking and payment

Who is our contract with?

Elena Kay Photography, LLC. It is the only company on your agreement, and every payment goes to it.

How do we reserve our date?

Sign the agreement in your client portal and pay the reservation fee. Most bookings pay 50% to reserve the date and 50% one day before the wedding. Your written payment schedule shows your exact amounts and dates.

How can we pay?

Cash, or a credit or debit card through Stripe. We do not accept checks. A late payment carries a $200 fee, and final files are released once everything due has been paid.

Is a tip expected?

Tipping your photographers, videographers, and content creator is customary, the same as your other wedding vendors. The suggested amount is 10 to 15% of your contract total. It is never required and never changes your service or delivery, and every dollar goes to the team who worked your day.

What if we cancel or need a new date?

Ask to reschedule at least 90 days before the wedding, and your payments move to the new date if it is open. The reservation fee is nonrefundable if you cancel. Payments beyond it are refunded in full more than 180 days out, 50% refunded from 90 to 180 days out, and not refunded inside 90 days. If a storm, a government order, or another cause outside everyone's control stops the wedding, your payments become a credit toward a new date within 18 months.

Can we change the contract?

Every couple signs the same agreement. A change needs a written amendment both sides sign, and any legal review you ask for is at your own cost. You can download a full copy of your signed agreement from your portal at any time.

Your wedding day

How much time should we plan for photos?

Plan 1 to 2 hours for the bride getting ready, 1 hour for the groom when he gets ready separately, and 1 hour and 30 minutes for portraits, the wedding party, and family. Ceremony, travel, and reception time come on top of that.

Do we need a family photo list?

Yes. Send us a written list of family and must have photos before the wedding, and ask one family member or your planner to gather people at the scheduled time. We cannot promise photos with anyone who is late, missing, or not on the list.

What do you need for parking and gear?

Our team carries a lot of equipment. At each location we need reserved or paid parking within one city block of the entrance where available, and a secure place to store gear we can reach all day. Confirm both in writing 14 days before the wedding. If parking is not arranged, parking, garage, and toll costs are added to your final balance.

Who pays for permits and location fees?

You do. Parks, beaches, houses of worship, and private properties sometimes charge for photography or require a permit. You arrange and pay for those, plus any parking or admission at those places. We do not advance these payments.

Can our venue get your insurance certificate?

Yes. Ask in writing at least 14 days before the wedding and we will send our certificate of insurance naming the venue or photo location as an additional insured.

Do you need a meal?

For coverage over 4 hours, please plan a meal for each team member. We eat at a quiet point so nothing important is missed.

Will you stop the ceremony for better light?

No. A wedding is a live event that happens once, and we will not pause or restage it. You and your venue choose where the ceremony faces and when it starts. If a late start puts the setting sun behind you, the glare and squinting are part of the day, and we work with the light we are given.

What happens if it rains or gets cold?

Weather and rain plans belong to you and your venue. We will suggest options, like moving portraits inside when it is cold, but the choice is yours, and if a suggestion is declined we cannot answer for the results. We stop outdoor work when conditions are unsafe, including lightning.

Can everyone get to the photo location?

Plan for it. You choose the photo spots, so tell your wedding party and family ahead of time where photos will happen and what to wear. Sand and grass are hard in heels, and not every guest can walk to a beach or garden. We are not responsible when someone cannot reach a spot you chose, or for dirt or damage to dresses, suits, or shoes.

Can you edit a guest out of our photos?

No. Everyone at the wedding appears in the coverage, including guests, children, vendors, and venue staff. We do not search for, blur, or remove people from the files.

Can you keep trash cans and lights out of the frame?

We try every time, but venues have trash cans, bus tubs, exit signs, sconces, DJ lights, and trees in the background. We cannot promise a frame free of them, and removing objects in editing is not included unless it is in your package.

What if family says photos are missing before we see them?

Final selection and editing happen after the wedding, so no one can know what was captured until your gallery arrives. We discuss the agreement and your files only with the two of you, and we review any concern once the full gallery is delivered.

Content creator

Are content creator clips edited?

No. Every clip is delivered raw, exactly as it was captured on the phone. We do not trim, color, or add music, captions, or transitions, and we do not make finished reels. You pick your favorites and add audio inside the app when you post.

Who plans the trending videos?

You do. Send us your list of trends with reference links before the wedding, and gather the people at the time you choose. Our content creator films what you set up. We do not find trends or coach the dance.

Is the phone footage the same quality as the film?

No. The content creator uses a phone only, with no professional cameras, microphones, lights, or gimbals. Phones struggle in low light, at a distance, and in loud rooms, so image and audio quality are not guaranteed, and toasts or vows may be hard to hear.

Will the content creator post for us?

No. We never log in to your accounts or ask for passwords. You choose what to post, and the music you add inside each app has to follow that app's rules.

Delivery and files

Do you deliver on a USB drive or in an album?

No. Everything is delivered digitally by download link, never on a drive, disc, or memory card. We do not sell prints or albums. When you want them, we point you to independent print and album companies, and we may earn a referral commission when you order through our link.

How long are our files online?

2 years from each delivery. Download and back up everything before then. After that, files may be deleted. If our archive still has them, we can retrieve them for $500, with no guarantee they still exist.

When do we get the raw video?

After both your highlight film and your full edited film are delivered. Raw clips come as recorded, with no editing or audio repair.

Will the audio be perfect?

We cannot control the room. The DJ, band, venue speakers, microphones supplied by others, wind, and crowd noise all shape what is recorded, and we are not responsible for audio lost to those conditions.

Discounts and free upgrades

How the offers work

These rules qualify every discount and free upgrade we advertise, including the Riviera banner. Posted October 18, 2026.

  1. 01Who makes these offers?

These offers are made by Elena Kay Photography, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company doing business as Elena Kay Photography, 74 Fairview Avenue, Holtsville NY 11742. "We" means that company. "You" means the couple or client who asks about a date.

  2. 02Which offers do these rules cover?

These rules cover every discount, complimentary service, and free upgrade we advertise on this website, in the site banner, on the pricing page, on the check-your-date form, and in our current public posts. That includes the Riviera Waterfront Mansion content creator offer, a new venue for us, a referral reward, thanks for military, teachers, first responders, and nurses or healthcare workers, off-season and weekday pricing, and repeat-client or returning-family pricing. A short line such as "FREE" is qualified by these rules.

  3. 03When is the Riviera content creator included free?

For a wedding at the Riviera Waterfront Mansion, the content creator is included at no added charge only when you book our photo and video package, and only when you book with us before January 1, 2027. The deadline is the date you book, not the date of the wedding. The photo and video package means photography and videography booked together at the prices published on the pricing page when you inquire. A photo-only booking does not include the content creator. Tell us the wedding is at the Riviera when you check your date.

  4. 04How do the other advertised perks work?

A new-venue perk applies only when we have not photographed a wedding at that venue before your booking. A referral perk applies only after the couple you refer has booked their wedding with us under a signed agreement. A military, teacher, first responder, or nurse or healthcare worker perk applies when at least one person in the couple holds that role at the time of booking, and we may ask for reasonable proof used only to confirm eligibility. Off-season means a wedding date in November, December, January, February, or March. A weekday offer means Thursday or Sunday, or another weekday named in the written quote.

  5. 05Are these offers only for new bookings?

Yes. New bookings only. An offer applies to a new inquiry for a date that is still open. It does not apply to a date already reserved, a contract already signed, an invoice already sent, or an amount already paid. It is not retroactive.

  6. 06Can a free upgrade be redeemed for cash?

No. A free upgrade is a complimentary service or product added to a booking. It has no cash value. It is not cash, a deposit, a refund, store credit, a gift card, or a gift certificate, and it is not issued as stored value. It cannot be redeemed for money or applied to tax, a gratuity, travel, overtime, or any charge other than the specific item named in your written quote. If you do not use it, nothing is paid out in its place.

  7. 07Can offers be combined?

One free perk per booking. It is applied to the photography total unless the written quote states a different application. A free perk does not stack with a second free perk. If more than one offer could fit, the written quote names the one that applies. Paid add-ons may still be added at the published prices.

  8. 08Can an offer be transferred or moved?

No. The offer stays with the couple named on the quote. It cannot be sold, assigned, gifted, or moved to another couple, another date, or another vendor.

  9. 09What if the complimentary role cannot be staffed?

Offers depend on the date still being open and on our ability to staff the day. We may limit how many complimentary dates we accept, because an offer has to be one we can actually supply. If a signed agreement includes a complimentary role and we later cannot staff it, we will tell you. You may then choose a substitute from our own team for that role, or we will remove the complimentary item. Removal does not create a cash payment, a refund of the rest of the booking, or a credit.

  10. 10When does an offer become part of the booking?

The website, the banner, and these rules are an invitation to inquire. An offer becomes part of the booking only when it is written into a quote you accept or a signed agreement. Until that writing, we may confirm, narrow, or decline it.

  11. 11Is the package price raised to cover a free item?

No. Any package you must book to receive a complimentary item is charged at our published price for that package. The complimentary item is not recovered by marking that price up.

  12. 12What if the venue has its own rule?

An offer is also subject to the venue's vendor rules. If the venue does not allow the offer, the offer does not apply to that wedding. Fees charged by the venue are the venue's charges.

  13. 13Can these offers change?

Yes. Offers are subject to change. We may change, correct, limit, suspend, or end any advertised offer at any time for an inquiry we have not yet confirmed in writing. We may correct an obvious error in a price or in wording. A later version of these rules applies to inquiries made after we post it. A change does not remove a perk already written into a signed agreement.

  14. 14Is sales tax included?

Published prices do not include sales tax. Whether New York sales tax is due depends on what is delivered and where it is delivered. A complimentary item is not a credit against tax. Any tax is added on the invoice and is the client's responsibility to pay.

  15. 15Which laws apply, including local law?

These offers are void where prohibited. They are made only to the extent applicable law allows, and they are subject to that law. Applicable law includes federal law, New York State law, and the local law of the place you live, the place the wedding is held, or the place the advertising is received. That includes Nassau County, Suffolk County, and New York City when those laws apply. Nothing in these rules waives a right that applicable law does not allow us to waive. If one sentence is not allowed, it is limited only as far as the law requires, and the rest of these rules still apply. New York law governs these offer rules.

  16. 16What if the website and the contract disagree?

The signed agreement controls the booking. If these rules and the signed agreement conflict, the signed agreement controls. If a written quote exists and there is not yet a signed agreement, the quote controls until it expires or we replace it in writing. Questions about an offer can be sent to info@elenakayphotography.com, to (631) 213 5013, or through Check Your Date.
