Engagement photos, what to wear
The goal of engagement outfits is simple. Look like the best version of yourselves, not like you are wearing a costume. You do not need a stylist or a big budget, just a few choices that work together. Here is how we guide our couples.

Start with a palette, not an outfit
Pick two or three colors that work together and build both looks from there. Soft neutrals, warm earth tones, and muted shades photograph beautifully and keep the focus on the two of you. Avoid large logos and tight, busy patterns that fight the background.
You do not need to match exactly. You want to coordinate, so your two outfits clearly belong in the same photo without looking like a uniform.
Bring two looks
Two outfits give your gallery range without complicating the session. A relaxed look and a dressed up look is a great pairing, and it lets us shoot in two different spots or moods.
Lead with whichever look feels most like you. The session goes better when you are comfortable from the first frame.
Dress for the location and the season
Where we shoot shapes what works. A harborfront or a beach at sunset suits flowing fabrics that catch the breeze. A village or downtown leans more editorial, so a sharper look fits. A garden or preserve loves soft, natural tones.
Dress for the weather too. If you are cold or overheated, it shows. Bring a layer for shoulder season and shoes you can actually walk in, since we move around.
The small things that help
Iron or steam your outfits the night before, because wrinkles are the hardest thing to fix later. Keep accessories simple. If you want a manicure for the ring shots, this is the time. And bring whatever makes you feel like you, a favorite jacket, a meaningful piece of jewelry, your real selves.
Once we lock in your location, we will send tailored guidance for that exact spot and time of day.

Common questions
What colors photograph best for engagement photos?
Soft neutrals, warm earth tones, and muted shades work almost anywhere on Long Island. Coordinate two or three colors across both outfits rather than matching exactly, and skip large logos and busy patterns.
Should we bring more than one outfit?
Two looks is the sweet spot. A relaxed look and a dressed up look gives your gallery range and lets us shoot different spots without overcomplicating the session.
How do we dress for the location?
Match the setting. Flowing fabrics suit beaches and harborfronts, a sharper look fits a downtown, and soft natural tones love a garden. Once we pick your spot we send tailored guidance.
